Media Relations/Public Affairs Officer
At the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development, I worked constantly with the Minister’s office to create media responses for the minister and to respond to media calls on the minister’s behalf, usually on tight deadlines, with accurate, on-message information.
I researched complex topics and wrote urgent issues notes and media responses in plain language on sensitive and often confidential topics for the minister. I also created other communications materials, including speeches, letters to editors, editorials, news releases and event plans.
My hard work was recognized and rewarded with a media relations placement in Vancouver during the 2010 Winter Olympics at the International Media Centre.
